Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Referral Letter to book an appointment?
A referral letter from a family physician is recommended for new patients. Existing patients of our practice can book their own follow-up appointment using this website.
Once a referral letter is sent how long does it take to book an appointment?
Wait times vary but can be anywhere from a few days up to 3 to 6 weeks.
How long will my appointment take?
The physician you’re seeing is a specialist and can be called upon to provide advice and assistance to other doctors throughout the day. We suggest not booking other appointments on the day of your visit to avoid potential conflicts. Budgeting at least an hour for your appointment is suggested.
Can I come to my appointment if I am on my period?
Yes, you are welcome to come to your appointment
Which hospital do I go to for ER/Surgery/Labour & Delivery
Proceed to the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (not the QE2). This is an acute care facility with 24 HR Emergency service. Surgeries for Obstetrics and Gynecology patients are performed here along with assessment for labour and delivery of patients. The address is

How long do I need to be off work following surgery?
Recovery times will vary with the type of surgery you are having. The recovery times will be discussed with you on your visit.
Once I have filled out all surgical forms and signed the consent, how long after till my surgery be booked?
At this time there is a 2 month wait for surgical bookings. You will receive a phone call from the Hospital Booking Office approximately 2 weeks before the intended date of the surgery,
What will happen during my initial appointment?
The physician will review your history and perform an examination, following this, any necessary tests will be ordered and a follow-up examination will be arranged to review the results and determine an evidence-based treatment plan with you to optimize your results.
When should I book my appointment for an IUD insertion?
Ideally, it would be placed during your period up to the 1st week after. But we can place an IUD anytime as long as you are not pregnant.
